Anfield Index

For the Anfield Index team I help with picking suitable topics to discuss on the show which our listeners will enjoy. I will occasionally participate in a podcast sharing my views, this could be about a game that has already been played, my opinion about players and also my views about an upcoming match that we may have. Opinions, opinions!

Asian Women Mean Business

For the role of Intern, I am required to ensure that all of the social media platforms that we use are kept up to date, whilst engaging with our target audience. It is essential that I am able to connect with the users and that I am able to appeal to them and allow them to share their experiences. I contribute to the live Twitter chats that we conduct, this gives me an opportunity to talk to different people and extend my network.

ITV

During my time at ITV, I was part of the small team who formed News Central. Over my week I was given opportunities to shadow some of the staff in different areas of the office. I was able to edit the stories which were to be aired and even have a go at presenting. During live shows, I sat in the gallery assisting the production specialist with visual and audio mixing. Working closely with the editor, I was required to find interesting local stories which could be shared across the multiple platforms. I was able to shoot interviews and edit packages for the live news too.

Anfield HQ

As a contributor to the Anfield HQ team I am required to provide footage which can be used across multiple social networking sites. By attending games I am required to take pictures and videos, mainly capturing and explaining the atmosphere.

Press Association

I was required to undertake the duties of a video journalist which involved organising and executing interviews. A lot of filming and editing was part of this role. Voxpops and general view shots were required too.

I also attended a pre-match press conference with West Ham manager Sam Allardyce. It was a fantastic insight into a different type of press conference, where the club does not have the pressure of being a top club. It was an early start with lots of hanging around, but the experience was invaluable. Another opportunity for a live presser was when I went along to Norwich, after this interview I was given the chance to write a newspaper story.

LA Productions

I worked as part of the Art Department on set for Crimestoppers. This was a long day as I was on set from 7am until 7pm. As I have never worked as part of the Art Department before it was definitely a learning experience which I made the most of. I was given the task to find suitable items from the props cupboard and dress the set in accordance with the script requirements for three different locations. This had to be done on time to ensure that filming was not delayed. I was also required to negotiate access with some of the occupants of the houses that we were using.

Core Media Productions

I was nominated to be a runner to help out at the MBC awards in Manchester at the Hilton Hotel. It was a great event and I was happy to be a part of the production team. The experience of working within the fast paced environment of a live event was invaluable. I was able to demonstrate key team management skills by ensuring that everyone knew what they were doing and were ready to shoot at the right times. I was also given the opportunity to execute my interviewing skills at the end of the event.

Daily Star

I went to the Arsenal training ground to observe a press conference with Arsene Wenger. This was an excellent opportunity as I was able to see what life as a journalist would be like. I was able to pitch my own questions to the football manager and wrote up the interview just after recording the interview. I then went on to come up with a draft story about what the manager had been discussing. This opportunity also gave me a chance to enhance my network, as I was introduced to other professionals.

LFC TV

During my week at LFC TV I was given a number of different tasks to complete. I was required to interview fans for pre-match voxpops, which required finding suitable people to speak to, which I then went on to edit. I had to find cut aways from football matches or training in order to fill player interviews. Another one of my roles was to help with the timings for he live shows and to prepare the presenter for their interviews by undertaking the necessary research.

EXPERIENCE

Have a look below to find out a little bit more about my past experiences.
Sky

For my placement at Sky I was working in the Sports department as part of the Soccer AM team. During my time on the team I carried out multiple tasks. I was required to research possible interviewees and come up with a script for the presenters, I also worked on the Football Mastermind segment of the show, creating interesting questions. I was given the task of logging a football match for suitable showboat content. On show day I ensured all the guests felt welcomed and helped to arrange the set. One of the main tasks for the day was to guarantee that everything ran on time so the show was perfect.
